Baby showers are a great way to celebrate the coming of a new baby. It’s not just about the baby, it’s about the mommy-to-be as well.
I’m not sure about you but I get tired of going to the same type of baby shower over & over.
Are you ready for something new? Try these unique baby shower ideas.
Host A Baby-Q
Take the party outside! If the weather is nice, take advantage of it. Throwing a baby-q is great for a co-ed shower & family friendly.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, roasted corn, baked beans, kabobs… yummm. Get away from traditional foods normally served at showers & turn on the grill.
You can even throw in non-traditional games to play along with traditional baby shower games. Cornhole, three-legged relay, & sac races are classic games that are always fun. You can find more baby shower game ideas here.
Since the mommy to be can’t drink, add mom-osas & mocktails to the drink menu. Mix half sparkling cider & half fruit juice together to make the mom-osas. The internet is full of mocktail recipes. I would suggest making one in the color of the baby shower. Spice it up & use champagne glasses.
Create your own DIY photo booth. You can use simple materials such as wrapping paper as a backdrop & set out picture supplies. Use a chalkboard to have each guest write a message for the baby on it & take a picture. Use the pictures to make a scrapbook. You can make it more fun by adding props. Get creative with your props, you can use just about anything. Some prop ideas are:
- Silly glasses
- Feather boas
- Stuffed animals
Instead of cards have the guests bring books. Ask each one to sign a special message inside of the cover.
Baby Name Box
This will make a splash at any baby shower. Display the baby’s name on large wrapped boxes. After the party, you can use the boxes as nursery decor or even storage.
Instead have everyone write a special message on a onesie or on wooden letters. The letters could be the baby’s initials, or even the entire alphabet. The alphabet could then be used as nursery wall decor.
Generally baby showers are held in the afternoon. Switch it up & make it earlier in the day. Having a brunch also makes for unique food options, such as make your own bars. Here’s some ideas:
- Waffle bar
- Bagel bar
- Parfait bar
- Chicken & waffles
- Pancake skewers
- Muffin bar
- Breakfast casseroles
Have fun with your food! Cut your food into shapes or make designs with it. You can use veggie cutters or cookie cutters to easily cut the shapes.
